Easy bedroom decor changes...

Just an FYI, two double sheets, sewn together, make a twin duvet. Likewise, two king flat sheets, make a queen duvet. This is a simple, and cost effective way to change the look of a bedroom.

Free Decor Advice

Every once in a while, I put myself out there, to be accessible to offer free decor advice. Today is one of those times.

I'm heading out to a local home decor, and clothing store, called Creative Accents, to offer up my consulting services for my clients, and theirs. I'll be in the store, for a couple of hours, in order to answer questions about home decor dilemmas. This may include everything from viewing a picture, of an akward room design, to giving my opinion on some Christmas decorations that someone is looking at purchasing.

Either way, it should be a lot of fun, and it's always nice to be able to talk to people, and help them with their design challenges.

Christmas is coming...are you ready with your decor?

Well, it might seem like it's a long ways away, but Christmas will be upon us before we know it. With all of the parties, concerts, and shopping to attend to, how do you get your home decorated in time to share with your friends and family? I like to take all of my Christmas decor items, and place them where my everyday items normally would sit. A big mistake, that many people make, is layering their holiday decor on top of their every day decor.

Remember to edit your decor, then redress your holiday decor, and remember to decorate your life...

Winterizing

Well, as the colder weather hits, it's time to put down area rugs, on your hard surfaces. This can include rugs in the enterance ways, on your tile/lino, and rugs in your living areas, that have hardwood or laminate flooring. I like to have small area rugs, flanking the bed, so that you don't step onto a cold floor in the AM.

Workshop Prep

As I'm looking at my notes, in preperation for the Ecole Senator Riley Middle School Student Conference,  I realize that it's good practice to review the basics, now and then. I'm making my notes, and am reminded that good decor is all about balance, versatility, and what feels right. The conference is on Monday, and I am going to be presenting some of these basic concepts to 60 students in grades 6-8. Wish me luck!
